About the Camp
KATA Potato Farm – F36 (Peter Kamau) – Engineer, Rift Valley, Kenya
Located in the highlands of Engineer, Rift Valley, the KATA Potato Farm F36 is managed by Peter Kamau, who cultivates two productive acres of Shangi potatoes under the KATA program. The region’s cool climate, rich volcanic soil, and dependable rainfall make it one of Kenya’s top areas for potato farming.
Peter’s commitment to excellence reflects KATA’s mission—“Fuel of Champions”—uniting agriculture and athletics to uplift communities and sustain athletes. His farm stands as a strong example of how disciplined farming and passion for performance can work hand in hand to create lasting impact.
KATA Potato Farms – Fueling Champions Across Kenya
Stretching across Kenya’s fertile highlands, the KATA Potato Farms form the agricultural backbone of the KATA Running Camp Program — where performance meets purpose.
Each farm contributes to the mission of “KATA Potatoes – The Fuel of Champions,” cultivating nutrient-rich Shangi potatoes that nourish both athletes and the communities around them.
Situated between 1,800 and 2,800 meters in altitude, these farms thrive in regions known for their cool temperatures, fertile volcanic soils, and dependable rainfall averaging 900–1,200 mm per year.
This natural balance makes Kenya’s highlands among the most ideal environments in the world for both potato cultivation and distance-runner development.
Every KATA farm not only grows potatoes but also supports a local KATA Running Camp, forming a self-sustaining system where agriculture and athletics work hand in hand.
Together, these farms provide both the fuel and the foundation for the next generation of world-class champions.
