About the Camp
KATA Potato Farm – F35 (Peter Kiptoo) – Kipkoris, Kenya
Located in the rich farmlands of Kipkoris, Kenya, the KATA Potato Farm F35 is operated by Peter Kiptoo, a committed farmer cultivating two acres of high-quality Shangi potatoes under the KATA program. His farm embodies KATA’s “Fuel of Champions” mission—empowering local farmers to produce nutritious food while supporting the foundation of Kenya’s world-class running community.
With fertile soil, dependable rainfall, and Peter’s dedication, F35 continues to strengthen the bond between agriculture and athletics. This farm plays a key role in demonstrating how sustainable potato farming can uplift communities, provide opportunity, and power the next generation of champions.
KATA Potato Farms – Fueling Champions Across Kenya
Stretching across Kenya’s fertile highlands, the KATA Potato Farms form the agricultural backbone of the KATA Running Camp Program — where performance meets purpose.
Each farm contributes to the mission of “KATA Potatoes – The Fuel of Champions,” cultivating nutrient-rich Shangi potatoes that nourish both athletes and the communities around them.
Situated between 1,800 and 2,800 meters in altitude, these farms thrive in regions known for their cool temperatures, fertile volcanic soils, and dependable rainfall averaging 900–1,200 mm per year.
This natural balance makes Kenya’s highlands among the most ideal environments in the world for both potato cultivation and distance-runner development.
Every KATA farm not only grows potatoes but also supports a local KATA Running Camp, forming a self-sustaining system where agriculture and athletics work hand in hand.
Together, these farms provide both the fuel and the foundation for the next generation of world-class champions.
