About the Camp
F07 – Dennis Korir Farm, Bombo I, Kenya
The Bombo I area features a high plateau with an altitude near 2,100 meters and evenly distributed rainfall of 1,100 mm annually. Dennis Korir’s farm emphasizes soil rotation and sustainability, aligning perfectly with KATA’s long-term commitment to quality and eco-friendly production.
KATA Potato Farms – Fueling Champions Across Kenya
Stretching across Kenya’s fertile highlands, the KATA Potato Farms form the agricultural backbone of the KATA Running Camp Program — where performance meets purpose.
Each farm contributes to the mission of “KATA Potatoes – The Fuel of Champions,” cultivating nutrient-rich Shangi potatoes that nourish both athletes and the communities around them.
Situated between 1,800 and 2,800 meters in altitude, these farms thrive in regions known for their cool temperatures, fertile volcanic soils, and dependable rainfall averaging 900–1,200 mm per year.
This natural balance makes Kenya’s highlands among the most ideal environments in the world for both potato cultivation and distance-runner development.
Every KATA farm not only grows potatoes but also supports a local KATA Running Camp, forming a self-sustaining system where agriculture and athletics work hand in hand.
Together, these farms provide both the fuel and the foundation for the next generation of world-class champions.
